Privacy
What happens to your data when you book an appointment here. In short: we only ask what your appointment needs, only the practice can read your request, and the website sets no cookies.
Who are we?
Huisartsen Duinrand, Wenduinesteenweg 25, 8420 De Haan, Belgium. Responsible for your data: Dr. Sarah Duhamel BV, company number (KBO) 0783.977.655.
Questions about this statement or about your data? Email info@huisartsenduinrand.be or call 059 46 77 76.
What does this statement cover?
This website, afspraak.huisartsenduinrand.be: requesting an appointment online, and the emails we send you about that appointment afterwards. Our main website has its own privacy statement.
Which data do we ask for?
Besides the day, time, doctor and type of appointment you choose:
- your email address, for the confirmation and the reminder;
- the first and last name of the person coming to the consultation;
- a phone number, so we can call you if something changes;
- the reason for your visit, in a few words.
Booking for someone else, such as your child? Fill in that person’s name, with your own email address and phone number.
What do we use it for?
Only for your appointment: to schedule it, to send you a confirmation and a reminder, and to let you know if the appointment changes or can’t go ahead. If we can’t schedule your request, we tell you by email.
We don’t use your data for anything else, build no profiles and send you no advertising.
We do this because you ask us to make an appointment. The reason for your visit may concern your health. We use it only for your care, and only the doctors and the reception staff get to see it.
How is your request kept safe?
Your request is encrypted straight away, so only the practice can read it, and is then deleted from this website. The appointment book at the practice is encrypted too, and only the doctors and the reception staff can get in.
Against spam and abuse
To keep out fake requests, the website counts how many requests come from the same email address and IP address. It only keeps a code the address can’t be read from, and deletes it after the day of the appointment (email address) or after one day (IP address). When you send the form, your browser also solves a small calculation; nothing is read from or stored on your device for this. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest: an appointment book without fake requests.
What happens when you visit the website?
Like our main website, this one is hosted by mijn.host, a web host in the Netherlands. Like every web server, theirs keeps a log of each request:
- the IP address the page is requested from;
- date and time;
- which page;
- the page you came from, if your browser passes it on;
- the type of browser and device.
The page addresses only contain the day, time, doctor and type of appointment you are looking at. Your name and the other details from the form never end up in the log.
The log is needed to show the website, to find faults and to spot abuse. The host keeps it for about a month and does not use it for its own purposes. We do this on the basis of our legitimate interest: a website that stays safe and available.
We keep no visitor numbers of this website ourselves. Our host’s control panel does make general visitor numbers from the same log.
Cookies
This website sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Fonts, logo and photos come from our own server. No software from other companies runs on it.
Who receives your data?
- The doctors and the reception staff of the practice.
- mijn.host, for this website (which only holds encrypted requests) and for the mail server we email you through. mijn.host works on our behalf and may not use the data for anything else.
Nobody else, and we pass nothing on outside the European Union. Our emails mention the day, time, doctor and type of appointment, never the reason for your visit.
How long do we keep it?
- On the website: until the practice has collected your request, usually within a minute.
- In the practice’s appointment book: for as long as you are a patient with us. As in a paper diary, your appointments stay in it.
- Backups of the appointment book are overwritten after about a month.
Your rights
You can always ask us:
- which data we hold about you, and for a copy, also in a form you can pass on to someone else;
- to correct or delete it;
- to restrict its use;
- to stop using it (objection), for what we do on the basis of our legitimate interest.
Send your request to info@huisartsenduinrand.be or ask at the reception desk. We reply within a month. Sometimes we first ask who you are, so we don’t give data to the wrong person.
Need to move or cancel an appointment? Call us on 059 46 77 76.
You can also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (https://www.dataprotectionauthority.be).
Changes
